How It Works

How Medical Travel to China Works

MedBridge helps international patients organize information, explore relevant hospital and doctor options, coordinate practical arrangements, and understand the next steps before making travel decisions.

MedBridge is a medical travel facilitation and decision-support service, not a hospital or treating clinician. Diagnosis and treatment decisions remain with the medical professionals responsible for care.

A structured process, with clear service boundaries

The process starts with your goals and available information. Where the service is suitable, MedBridge helps clarify coordination scope, fees, provider options, practical travel considerations, and the next steps. The exact pathway depends on your needs and the service agreed.

Important: A case review or coordination discussion does not guarantee clinical suitability, treatment acceptance, a particular outcome, a visa, or an appointment with a specific clinician.

Service models

Two ways to coordinate care

The payment and coordination model depends on the service. The written proposal should identify what is included, what is excluded, who receives each payment, and any charges that remain payable to a provider.

Complex or record-based cases

Complex Medical Coordination

For oncology, bariatric surgery, and other complex cases, coordination may involve record organization, second-opinion workflows, provider communication, appointment coordination, or travel planning as agreed.

  • Medical records and case information organized for review
  • Provider or appointment coordination within the agreed scope
  • Hospital medical fees paid directly to the provider where applicable
  • A separately disclosed MedBridge coordination fee where applicable

No single payment model applies to every service. The written proposal and service agreement govern the actual inclusions, exclusions, payment recipient(s), fees, and cancellation terms.

The process

Your pathway, step by step

Not every case follows every step. The next action depends on the information available, the service selected, provider requirements, and practical feasibility.

Choosing a medical travel pathway
01

Request a Case Review

Tell us your main goal, the care or procedure you are exploring, your general timeline, and the main question you need help with.

Next: We use the information to understand the request and identify what further details may be needed.

Organizing case details and medical records
02

Share Relevant Information

Provide the information and records needed for the agreed next step. We will clarify which materials are relevant and how to submit them through the available channel.

Note: Do not send sensitive medical records through an unconfirmed channel.

Reviewing proposed coordination options and next steps
03

Clarify Practical Fit

We clarify the request, available information, relevant provider options, timing, travel considerations, and whether the requested coordination falls within the service scope.

Clinical boundary: Medical suitability and treatment recommendations must be determined by the responsible medical professionals.

Clarifying service scope and payment terms
04

Review Scope and Fees

Before you decide, review the proposed deliverables, exclusions, fees, payment recipient(s), and any provider charges that are not included in a MedBridge coordination fee or bundled plan.

Next: Proceed only when the written scope and payment terms are clear to you.

Coordinating appointments and travel arrangements
05

Coordinate Appointments and Travel

Where included in the agreed service, we can help coordinate appointment logistics, interpretation arrangements, travel scheduling, accommodation, local transportation, and entry-document information.

Important: Visa requirements and approvals depend on the applicant and current official rules. Approval is not guaranteed.

Care coordination during a medical journey in China
06

Care Coordination and Continuity

During the agreed service period, coordination may include communication support, document handover, local logistics, and planning for follow-up with the treating provider after travel.

Responsibility: Clinical care, prescriptions, treatment decisions, and medical follow-up instructions remain with the treating professionals.

Coordination support

What MedBridge can help coordinate

Specific deliverables depend on the agreed service. The following describes coordination activities, not clinical services performed by MedBridge.

Records and Communication

Help organize the information requested for a case, coordinate translation or interpretation arrangements where agreed, and support communication between the patient and relevant provider.

Provider and Appointment Coordination

Help patients explore relevant hospital or doctor options and coordinate appointment requests subject to provider review, availability, and acceptance.

Travel and Practical Logistics

Coordinate practical arrangements included in the agreed plan, which may involve scheduling, accommodation, local transport, interpretation, or preparation for the return journey.

Clear responsibilities

What MedBridge does — and does not do

Our role is coordination and decision support, within the written service scope.

  • We can coordinate: information organization, provider-option exploration, appointment communication, agreed travel logistics, and care-transition planning.
  • We do not replace a hospital or treating clinician: MedBridge does not independently diagnose, prescribe, perform surgery, or determine clinical suitability.
  • Provider decisions remain independent: acceptance, appointment timing, clinical recommendations, treatment plans, and outcomes are determined by the relevant providers.
  • Urgent symptoms require local care: this process is not an emergency medical service. Seek urgent local medical attention when immediate care is needed.

After you contact us

What happens after you submit a request?

The first step is to understand your request and explain the next practical step. Submission does not automatically confirm a medical appointment or start a treatment plan.

We review your request

We check the information provided for completeness and whether it fits the available coordination pathways.

We clarify missing details

Where needed, we contact you to ask for relevant information or explain the next step.

We explain possible pathways

Depending on the case, this may involve a second-opinion workflow, provider coordination, or practical travel planning.

You decide whether to proceed

Review the scope, fees, and next steps before agreeing to a service. Clinical decisions remain with medical professionals.

Response times depend on the request, available information, and provider requirements. Please refer to the communication you receive from MedBridge for the applicable next steps; this page does not promise a same-day or fixed-hour response.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does MedBridge provide medical treatment directly?

No. MedBridge provides medical travel facilitation and decision-support coordination. Diagnosis, treatment, and clinical decisions are made by the responsible medical professionals and provider institutions.

How are medical fees paid?

The payment model depends on the service. Some agreed care plans may be bundled. For complex cases, medical fees may be paid directly to the provider while a separate MedBridge coordination fee applies. The written proposal should identify the actual arrangement before you agree.

Can I request a second opinion before travelling?

Where the relevant provider offers an appropriate remote review pathway, a case may be considered for second-opinion coordination before travel. Requirements, availability, fees, and whether a remote review is suitable depend on the case and provider.

Will MedBridge guarantee a hospital appointment or treatment outcome?

No. Provider acceptance, appointment availability, clinical recommendations, and treatment outcomes cannot be guaranteed by MedBridge. These matters are determined by the relevant medical professionals and institutions.

Can MedBridge help with visas and travel arrangements?

Where included in the agreed service, MedBridge can help coordinate practical travel information and document preparation. Entry and visa requirements depend on the applicant, purpose of travel, and current official rules. Visa approval is decided by the relevant authorities.

What should I do if I need urgent medical care?

Do not wait for a case review or travel coordination. Contact local emergency services or seek urgent care from a qualified local medical provider.
