Care Pathways

Care Pathways for Medical Travel to China

MedBridge helps international patients understand the available service routes, organize the next steps, and coordinate relevant non-clinical arrangements according to the agreed service scope.

MedBridge provides Medical Travel Facilitation + Decision Support. We are not a hospital or treating clinician; diagnosis and treatment decisions remain with the responsible healthcare professionals.

A structured starting point

Choose a service route. Understand the scope. Decide your next step.

Start with your goal and available information before making travel or treatment commitments.

Two service models, with different coordination and payment arrangements

Elective and preventive services may be arranged through a defined care plan. Complex medical cases may require case-by-case coordination, with hospital treatment fees handled separately from MedBridge's coordination fee where applicable. The actual scope and payment recipients should be confirmed in writing before you proceed.

Before you decide: The route depends on the service you need, the available information, provider requirements, travel feasibility, and the service terms agreed for your case.

Choose a route

Which care pathway are you exploring?

Use these descriptions to identify the type of coordination you may need. They are starting points, not clinical assessments or guarantees of provider acceptance.

Pathway A

Elective & Preventive Care Plans

For patients exploring more clearly defined services such as dental treatment, hair restoration, or executive health checkups.

Depending on the specific service, a proposed care plan may describe the treatment-related items, coordination activities, and practical travel support under consideration.

  • Review the service scope and your stated goals
  • Coordinate relevant information and provider communication
  • Check which items are included, excluded, or quoted separately
  • Plan scheduling and practical arrangements where included
Pathway B

Complex Medical Coordination

For oncology, bariatric surgery, complex surgery, or other cases that may need record-based review and provider-level coordination.

For applicable complex-care pathways, the hospital provides clinical services and determines medical fees. MedBridge's coordination fee is a separate charge under the agreed service scope.

  • Organize available case information for the next coordination step
  • Coordinate hospital or specialist communication where applicable
  • Clarify provider charges versus MedBridge coordination fees
  • Discuss practical travel and communication needs within scope

Scope and payment clarity

Understand the service and payment model before proceeding

Do not assume that every package includes all medical, travel, or personal expenses. The applicable written plan or service agreement should identify the confirmed scope and payment arrangements.

Elective & preventive care

Care plan or bundled arrangement

For selected services, a quoted plan may group specified treatment-related items and coordination support into one arrangement. The exact inclusions vary by service and case.

Before agreeing, confirm which items are included, which are excluded or separately charged, who receives each payment, and how additional clinical requirements are handled.

Complex medical care

Hospital fees and coordination fees are separate where applicable

For applicable complex-care cases, the patient pays medical and clinical treatment charges directly to the treating hospital under its billing arrangements. MedBridge charges the coordination service fee stated in the agreed service scope.

The treating provider determines clinical requirements and hospital charges. MedBridge does not independently diagnose or make treatment decisions.

Important: There is no single payment model for every service. The written proposal and applicable service agreement govern the actual inclusions, exclusions, payment recipients, fees, and cancellation terms.

Find your next step

Start with the question you need to resolve

You do not need to know every detail before contacting MedBridge. Start with the main question and the information you already have.

Exploring a defined service?

Review the relevant service page to understand the typical scope, deliverables, exclusions, and practical considerations before requesting a case review.

Have a defined diagnosis or treatment question?

The Second Opinion pathway may be relevant when you are seeking an additional clinical perspective before travel, payment, or treatment commitment.

Unsure which route fits?

Start with Request Case Review. The first step is to understand your request and explain which information or coordination pathway may be relevant.

Clear responsibilities

What MedBridge does — and does not do

MedBridge provides Medical Travel Facilitation + Decision Support. The precise coordination activities depend on the selected service and written agreement.

  • We can help coordinate: information organization, provider-option exploration, appointment communication, and practical travel or care-transition arrangements when included.
  • We are not a hospital or treating clinician: MedBridge does not independently diagnose, prescribe, perform procedures, or determine clinical suitability.
  • Provider decisions remain independent: appointment availability, patient acceptance, clinical recommendations, medical charges, and treatment outcomes are determined by the relevant provider and treating professionals.
  • Urgent symptoms need local care: this service is not for medical emergencies. Seek urgent local medical attention when immediate care is needed.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a care plan and a coordination service?

A care plan may set out a defined group of treatment-related items and support services for selected elective or preventive services. A coordination service is arranged around the specific needs of a case. The agreed written scope determines what is included and how payments are handled.

Does an all-inclusive care plan include every medical and travel cost?

Not necessarily. Inclusions vary by service and plan. Review the written proposal for the exact treatment-related items, coordination services, travel arrangements, exclusions, and separately charged items before you proceed.

Who receives the medical treatment payment?

For applicable complex-care pathways, clinical treatment fees are paid directly by the patient to the treating hospital, while MedBridge charges a separate coordination fee. Other services may use a different disclosed payment structure. The applicable written agreement governs.

Should I choose the Second Opinion pathway or Request Case Review?

Request Case Review is the main entry point for broader service-fit, hospital or specialist coordination, travel, records, and next-step questions. Second Opinion is the higher-intent pathway for a defined diagnosis or treatment question where you are seeking an additional clinical perspective. Explore Second Opinion.

Can I start before travelling to China?

Yes. You can begin by explaining your goal and the information you already have. Whether remote review, provider communication, or travel planning is appropriate depends on the case, provider requirements, and selected service scope.

Does MedBridge provide diagnosis or guarantee treatment outcomes?

No. MedBridge provides non-clinical medical travel facilitation and decision-support coordination. Diagnosis, treatment recommendations, provider acceptance, and clinical outcomes remain with the relevant healthcare professionals and institutions.

What should I do if I need urgent medical care?

This service is not an emergency medical service. Contact local emergency services or seek urgent care from a qualified local medical provider if immediate attention is required.
